With this album cover the first thing I notice is the large black letter ‘L’. This could represent her name, Lily or, the word love and a lot of her songs are centred on love and relationships. Further evidence of this is the album title which is ‘It’s not me. It’s you’ which is a twist on the favourable break-up line ‘It’s not you. It’s me.’ This shows us that this album might focus on the break up of a relationship where Lily is very blunt and feisty in her words. It is unclear whether she is pushing love away or wanting to be surrounded by it as she’s lying in the groove of the ‘L’ but has her legs pushed up against it and her arms stretched out protecting her. Her face looks quite content as she has a soft smile and her eyes are closed. This could represent that she is at peace and is happy but it could also show that she is blocking the rest of the world out of her mind. The colour black is harsh and represents darkness and unhappiness; however the pink softens it and gives it a girly touch. Her pink dress is very pretty and sophisticated too showing she has matured as a woman and in her music as before she would wear dresses and trainers and her last album cover was based on the youth of today with bicycles and big gold hoop earrings. Whereas, in this album cover she is very grown up and the fact that’s she’s wearing no shoes shows she is comfortable in her surroundings. The head piece she is wearing is usually worn at a funeral which adds a sombre note to the cover which could reflect the ‘death’ or ending of a relationship.
