Research on Kate Nash

Kate Nash is an English singer/songwriter from London. Her career first started in 2006 when she uploaded her material to MySpace after playing various gigs. Her genre of music is indie pop and she is known for her quirky songs and style. Her debut album 'Made of Bricks' reached top of the charts in the UK and went platinum. Her music is easy for the British public to connect to as she sings with a cockney twang to her voice in most songs and makes reference to everyday life in London. For example in her song 'Birds' she sings of the ticket inspectors at the train station and drinking "two bottles of bud".

As well as her music being very unique her fashion sense is very original as she mixes modern with vintage. This is something we want to show in our music video with our singer, Claudia. The top picture of Kate Nash in monochrome is similar to the image we have idealised for Claudia when she is singing in the 50's bar. We want her dressed up in black with inspiration from Audrey Hepburn in 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' which is similar the the Kate Nash photo. The photos shown below are images of Kate Nash looking very 50's with the skinny waist belts and polka dots. In our video, when Claudia is not in the 50's bar she will be in modern surrounding with everyone around her looking modern too. Claudia will dress in this way too but will have a Kate Nash/50's twist aswell experimenting with different colours or patterns. With each outfit there will be at least one statement 50's trademark like a high waisted skirt or polka dot patterned clothing. We may also do her hair and make up in a 50's style as the trade mark.
