Unfortunately I have been unable to upload the power point presentation so I have typed it up into my blog.
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Our media product is an opening of a two minute film. Our group agreed that the genre of our film was going to be “comedy” because we felt inspired by other teenage comedies such as the films Juno and Saint Trinians.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Our media product is effective in the way it represents social groups. It targets a teenage audience through its young characters, clothing and props. For example, our media film opening introduces three characters, one girl and two boys. The bright and “hip” clothing Katie is wearing presents her as modern, contemporary and “cool” therefore she represents a very modern social group.
What kind of media Film Company might like to work with your media product and why?
We feel that a media company such as Working Title might like to work with our media product because firstly Working Title’s most famous films are of the genre comedy. For example, they have produced About a Boy, 40 Days and 40 Nights, Hot Fuzz and Bridget Jones. There fore Working Title’s target audience is people who like comedies as is ours. Also, Working Title might like to work with our media product because in the film Billy Elliot Working Title focus on the character Billy who represents young people, our film is also a representation of young people however, in a more modern day society. Also, because our film “Loser” is British Working Title might like to work with it because Working Title is a British Film Production Company. Perhaps BBC, Studio Canal or Big Talk could distribute our film as Studio Canal has worked with the British film company, Working Title and our film is also British.
Who would be the audience of your media product?
Young people and people who like to watch comedies would be the target audience for our media product because it is a comedy and focuses on the representation of young people today.
How did you attract/address your audience?
We attracted our audience by using young people for our main characters, by using modern and “hip” clothing and by using modern props such as the ipod.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
We have learnt that film technologies such as the camera and Premiere Pro can be complex and do need a lot of practice and getting used to.
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
We have learnt not to underestimate smaller tasks such as the preliminary task because it did conclude to be very time consuming and we sometimes found it complicated to edit it and razor it to demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.
