In today's lesson we researched films that are of the same genre of our 2 minute opening of a film. Our film's genre is teen/comedy so we researched films like 'Juno' and 'Mean Girls'. Both these films have comedy in which is the same as our film and 'Mean Girls' is about teenage bullying which is again similar to our film.
We looked for different pieces of information about the film like the director, writer and plot to see how it relates to our film opening.

Today's Lesson
We have finally decided on a location for our media film and have found all our actors! We have Romano as the loser, Ena as the cool boyfriend and Katie as the girl. We have decided to film in an alley way because it wouldn't be as busy as a crowded street with people jumping in the shot. The alley leads into a main road so we may use that in the beginning when Romano is walking and we need a lot of shots of him. We hope to film our prelimenary task soon aswell.

Practice!
Today we got the chance to have a go at filming our main task. Our film is based outside of school on a main street so we decided to just use ourselves in the film and in school. We wanted to practice using the camera and getting the effects like i.e zooming to a CU. We were told we were going to the CLC centre to learn how to edit films. We could then use our practice tape of filming to practice editing too.

Media Lesson
In today's lesson we made a step by step diagram of what our shots would be and what they would include. We had a different number of shots including mid shot, long shot, close up and an establishing shot. We were still unsure of what we wanted happening in the film so we had all of the things we'd thought of included in the diagram. We estimated how long each shot would be. We only managed to get 1 minute 40 seconds but then our teacher gave us some advice on how to make the film longer and gave some ideas on how to get the point across of what was happening in the film. Hopefully by next week we will have completed the storyboard and can start filming.

Main Task!
Today we all discussed the ideas we had thought of over the christmas holidays. We began by jotting down all our ideas and merged them into one. We now have the idea of a 'geek' boy walking down the road listening to his ipod. We want to play music over the film and make it look like that's what he's listening to. We want a good rock type song so the film invites teenagers to watch it. The boy thinks he's really cool and we see him see a girl that he thinks is looking at him. At this point we want the music to slow down as if the two are sharing a connection. The boy then gets barged out of the way by the girls boyfriend. The music then becomes really slow and sad and the boy next appears walking over a hill. This is where we want the titles to come up. We thought this would be a funny opening and introduces the core elements of the film and the main character.
